Chelation

Chelation is a chemical-physical reaction where organic compounds and cations of certain chemical elements are involved. These substances then create a bond between them. For example, iron binds to hemoglobin, an organic substance. These natural binding properties of organic compounds are used in preparing solutions for cleaning contact lenses.

Through this process, the contact lenses that are in contact with the solution are cleaned and removed of any unwanted deposits of inorganic origin, mainly calcium components and magnesium salts. Regular cleaning of contact lenses and using the proper procedures are essential to prevent infection.
